What is a Venus Vaginal Model?

The Venus vaginal model is a 3D representation of the female vaginal anatomy used to teach medical students, healthcare professionals and patients about the anatomy and physiology of the vagina.  Treating pelvic floor clinicians can use the vaginal model to provide a visual demonstration of procedures prior to administration.  The use of a vaginal model can be a very useful tool to demystify and relieve patient apprehension regarding this sensitive subject matter.

What is the Venus model made of?

Made of a soft silicone the Venus vaginal model has a 2.5″ introitus. This makes the model an excellent tool to demonstrate the use of dilators, wands, pessaries, rectocele devices or the use of topical lubricants for pain or any in clinic procedure such as dry needling.  The model comes in three different skin tones light, medium and dark.

How to use in clinic?

Using a vaginal model in medical education can help to reduce the stigma surrounding women’s health issues. Women’s health is a sensitive and often taboo subject, and many people feel uncomfortable discussing it openly. However, by using a vaginal model in medical education and training, healthcare professionals can become more comfortable and confident in discussing women’s health issues with their patients. This, in turn, can help to reduce the stigma surrounding women’s health and encourage more open and honest discussions.

Use the vaginal model to teach a wide range of skills and procedures. For example, clinicians can use a vaginal model to practice inserting a speculum or performing a POPq measurement. These are essential skills for clinicians working in women’s health. Practicing on a model can help to build confidence and accuracy. It teaches students what a pelvic examination looks like as a gynecological diagnostic tool.
